From Simple Beginnings to High-Tech Shift

From the humble beginnings with a single Canon EOS camera to a sophisticated multi-camera system, our journey has been both exciting and insightful. In this post, we’ll take you through this transformation, highlighting how each addition and upgrade has enhanced the quality of our content.

The Early Days: Single Canon EOS

Our story began with Episode 1, where we used a single Canon EOS camera. This initial setup, as seen in our first episode here, laid the foundation for our video production. The Canon EOS, known for its excellent image quality and versatility, was the perfect starting point for us. It allowed us to create professional-looking videos with ease, even with our limited resources at the time.

Stepping Up: Adding the GoPro

As our content and ambitions grew, so did our equipment. By Episode 2, viewable here, we introduced a GoPro alongside our Canon EOS. This addition marked a significant upgrade in our filming capabilities. The GoPro’s compact size and rugged design enabled us to capture dynamic, on-the-go footage that was previously out of reach.

Incorporating Smartphones: Pixel 4 and Pixel 6

Our setup took another leap forward around Episode 6, viewable here, with the integration of smartphones – specifically, a Pixel 4 and a Pixel 6. This change was a game-changer. The quality difference is evident in Episode 20, which you can check out here. The versatility and convenience of smartphones allowed us to capture spontaneous moments and different angles, adding a new layer of depth to our videos.

The iPhone 14 and Google Pixel 6 Era

By this episode, we had further diversified our arsenal with an iPhone 14 and a Google Pixel 6. This combination brought together the best of both worlds – Apple’s renowned video quality and Pixel’s exceptional low-light performance. The result was a richer, more vibrant visual experience for our viewers.

Today’s Setup: Dual iPhones and OBS Enhancements

Today, with the help of OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), viewable here, and the iOS camera plugin (details here, we’ve taken our production to even greater heights. We now use two iPhones, leveraging their high-quality cameras and the versatility of OBS for seamless video streaming and recording. This setup not only offers excellent video quality but also provides us with the flexibility to create content in various formats and styles.

Our journey from a single Canon EOS to a multi-camera setup using the latest smartphones and broadcasting software reflects our commitment to quality and innovation.
