La Gloria Cubana has recently unveiled an exquisite, limited-edition cigar that commenced distribution to retailers on the preceding Friday. This exceptional offering is distinguished by its innovative use of a hybrid tobacco, aptly named Corojo de Oro, which is the cornerstone of its unique character. The creation of Corojo de Oro involves an intricate cross-pollination process between two premium Cuban-seed tobaccos, specifically Corojo and Pelo d’Oro, resulting in a rare and distinctive leaf.
This proprietary tobacco is cultivated in the fertile Mao region of the Dominican Republic. This region is renowned for its agricultural prowess and is selectively utilized by the brand’s owner, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, for cultivating special, small-batch tobacco harvests. In the cigar’s construction, this hybrid leaf is ingeniously employed as the binder, which plays a pivotal role in contributing to the cigar’s overall flavor profile and structural integrity.

The outermost layer of the cigar, or the wrapper, is crafted from an exquisite Ecuador Habano leaf, known for its rich color and flavor. The cigar’s internal blend, or filler, is a carefully selected combination of Brazilian Mata Fina, Dominican Piloto Cubano, and Nicaraguan Ometepe tobaccos. This meticulously curated blend ensures a medium-bodied smoking experience that is both balanced and complex.
Presented in elegantly designed 20-count boxes, the La Gloria Cubana Corojo de Oro is available in a singular, robust Toro size, 6 inches long with a 50-ring gauge. Each cigar is priced at a suggested retail value of $10.49, making it an accessible luxury for aficionados and casual smokers.
These cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic, within the esteemed El Credito section of the General Cigar Dominicana factory. This section is dedicated exclusively to the craftsmanship of the La Gloria Cubana brand, ensuring that each cigar is made to the highest quality standards. While the release is limited, the exact quantity of boxes and cigars produced for this year remains a closely guarded secret.

Notably, this differs from the inaugural instance of La Gloria Cubana leveraging hybrid tobacco in their creations. The brand previously showcased a hybrid tobacco in its 2021 La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro edition, further cementing its reputation for innovation and excellence in the cigar industry.
Although several retailers had the privilege of introducing this new La Gloria Cubana to their offerings last year, the Corojo de Oro has been made available nationally since last week, allowing a broader audience to experience this unique blend.
