The Plasencia Cigars facility in Nicaragua is currently a hive of activity, filled with towering piles of ornate red boxes adorned with golden dragon motifs. In line with common practice in the cigar sector, Plasencia is rolling out a special edition cigar to mark the Lunar New Year, with 2024 heralding the Year of the Dragon. The diligent workforce at Plasencia is tirelessly packing these boxes with premium cigars, each one meticulously shrink-wrapped.
Scheduled to hit the shelves later in the month, the Plasencia Year of the Dragon marks the company’s fourth annual tribute to the Chinese New Year, a tradition they began in 2021 with the Year of the Ox and have faithfully continued each year.

This Year of the Dragon edition features a robust torpedo shape, measuring 6 1/2 inches in length with a 54-ring gauge, crafted entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco cultivated by the Plasencia family across the country. These cigars are also rolled in Nicaragua at the Plasencia Cigars factory located in Estelí.
Each box contains ten cigars, with a recommended price tag of $45 per cigar. Plasencia produces a limited run of just 3,000 boxes, with an equal split between the United States and international markets.

Nestor Andrés Plasencia, the CEO of this family-run business, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “The dragon symbolizes our family’s relentless pursuit of excellence. We’re excited to share the joy of the Chinese New Year with aficionados through this exclusive release.”
