Privacy Policy

The Cigar Guys is a cigar podcast and media company. This site is built to need as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts and nothing here is ever sold. We do carry Google ads, and we count visits and link clicks, because ads and sponsors are what pay for the show and we owe them real numbers. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what that means.
thecigarguys.com is operated by The Cigar Guys. You can reach us any time at info@thecigarguys.com.
Browsing the site requires nothing from you — no account, no name, no email. The pages themselves are static files. What we do measure is how many people read them and which buttons get pressed, using the two tools described next.
We use Google Analytics to count page views, and to count clicks on the links that leave this site — YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcast, the merch store, and the sponsor card on our socials page. That last one is the honest reason this exists: our sponsor pays for that placement, and once a month we tell them how many people clicked it. They get a number, never a list of people. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (their names all start with “_ga”) so a second page in the same visit isn’t counted as a second person, and it records the ordinary technical details any web request carries, such as a shortened IP address, your browser and your rough location.
If you use the search box on the blog, the words you type are sent to Google Analytics along with the page view, so we can see what people come here looking for and write more of it. The searching itself happens in your browser — the whole archive is indexed into files your browser downloads and reads on its own, so nothing you type is sent anywhere in order to get you results. What we get is the search word, not who typed it. Don’t type anything private into it, the same as any search box anywhere.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for a plain traffic count. It sets no cookies at all and doesn’t follow anyone between sites — it just tallies page views and where they came from.
Google’s advertising features are switched off inside our analytics: no ad personalization, no remarketing, no demographic profiling from the numbers we collect. The ads themselves are described below. We don’t sell your data and we never will. If you’d rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and any tracker blocker or cookie-blocking setting stops both tools. Nothing here breaks if you use one — every page works exactly the same.
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type — nothing else. Submissions are transmitted to our inbox by a Cloudflare Worker and used only to read and reply to your message. We don’t add you to any list.
The site is served by Cloudflare, which may process standard connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, subject to Cloudflare’s own policies. We don’t use that data to identify you.
We run Google AdSense. Google places the ads and, in doing so, may set cookies and use your browsing to decide which ones you see — that part is Google’s, not ours, and is governed by Google’s policy for sites that use its services. We never see who you are; we see totals. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and an ad blocker works here as it does anywhere — nothing on this site asks you to switch one off.
The site links out to platforms we publish on — YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Instagram, TikTok, X and others — and to our merch store, which is operated by Spring. Once you leave this site, those services’ privacy policies apply. Some blog posts may contain affiliate links.
Our content is about premium cigars and is intended for adults of legal smoking age. The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Want the correspondence you sent us deleted? The fastest path is simply emailing us at info@thecigarguys.com — we’ll take care of it.
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the site.
