What Is CigarBros? Understanding Its Humidors, Packaging, and Storage Approach

CigarBros is a company that develops cigar storage and distribution systems, including retail humidors, personal humidors, and packaging designed to function as a storage container after delivery. Its approach combines protective enclosures with humidity control, bringing shipping packaging and ongoing storage into the same system. The company’s personal humidors use expanded polypropylene, or EPP, and incorporate Boveda humidity packs.

Understanding CigarBros starts with separating three elements: the cigars, the container, and the humidity-control component. Each serves a different purpose. The cigar’s brand and blend identify the tobacco product; CigarBros provides the packaging or storage format; and Boveda supplies the humidity-control technology in the configurations described by the company. A CigarBros designation therefore does not, by itself, identify a cigar’s manufacturer or blend.

The company also operates a fulfillment program for participating retailers. Under that arrangement, a retailer presents products through its website while CigarBros handles inventory, packing, and shipping. This explains why the CigarBros name can appear alongside different cigar brands on a retailer’s website.

A defining feature of the CigarBros personal humidor is its EPP construction. This material forms the body and lid of the container, giving it a different structure and appearance from a traditional wooden humidor. CigarBros describes EPP as lightweight, insulating, and impact resistant. Its personal humidor page lists size designations of 5, 10, 20, 30, and 80, with the Size 80 configuration including one 60-gram Boveda pack rated at 69% relative humidity. Specifications should be checked for the particular model being discussed.

The container and the humidity pack perform separate jobs:

ComponentFunction
Container bodyProvides structure, physical protection, and insulation
Lid and closureLimit air exchange with the surrounding environment
Humidity packAdds or absorbs moisture within the enclosure
Hygrometer, when usedMeasures relative humidity

Boveda uses two-way humidity control, meaning its packs can release moisture or absorb excess moisture as conditions require. This differs from a system that only introduces moisture into a container. The percentage printed on a pack identifies its intended relative-humidity level; it does not describe the tobacco’s moisture content.

Humidity management also differs from temperature control. An insulated container can slow temperature changes, but insulation does not provide refrigeration or maintain a fixed temperature indefinitely. Likewise, a humidity pack does not cool the contents. These distinctions matter when interpreting descriptions such as “temperature stability” or “humidity controlled.”

CigarBros also describes a system called FreshBox, which combines storage containers with packaged cigar selections. According to the company, its FreshBox three-packs are prepared in a climate-controlled facility and include an 8-gram Boveda pack rated at 69% relative humidity. These specifications apply to that format and should not automatically be assumed for every CigarBros package.

Storage performance depends on more than the name on the container. The closure, surrounding conditions, frequency of opening, and condition of the humidity pack all affect the environment inside. Manufacturer statements about extended freshness or pack lifespan should therefore be understood in the context of the particular system and its usage conditions.

Humidity packs are also replaceable components. Boveda provides guidance for assessing when a pack is depleted and explains that unusually short pack life can indicate that the system is working harder to maintain humidity. A reusable enclosure and an included humidity pack consequently have different maintenance requirements and replacement timelines.

FreshBox by CigarBros: An Overview of Its Cigar Storage System

FreshBox by CigarBros is a cigar packaging and storage system that combines reusable containers with Boveda humidity control. The company describes its FreshBox MaxFlow system as designed for portable, modular, and long-term storage without batteries or an external power source.

The FreshBox lineup also includes packaged three-cigar selections. According to CigarBros, these are prepared in a climate-controlled facility, inspected, and sealed. Each three-pack includes an 8-gram Boveda humidity pack rated at 69% relative humidity. The packaging and humidity-control component serve different purposes: one provides an enclosure, while the other helps regulate moisture inside.

CigarBros advertises extended humidity-pack life and faster humidity recovery after opening for its MaxFlow system. These are manufacturer claims, and the company notes that performance varies with environmental conditions and usage. They should not be interpreted as guarantees for every storage situation.

FreshBox illustrates an approach in which packaging continues to serve a purpose after delivery. Understanding the specific container, included humidity pack, and maintenance requirements helps distinguish the system’s storage features from the cigars packaged within it.
