Davidoff’s New City Edition Cigars for New York and Las Vegas Are Flagship-Store Exclusives

Davidoff just gave cigar travelers a reason to pack a bag. On October 22, the company announced City Edition, a new series made only for its “Davidoff of Geneva since 1911” flagship stores, and the first two chapters are New York and Las Vegas. Each city gets its own blend and its own box, and you can’t buy either one anywhere else. They go on sale Monday, November 2.

Here’s what we’ve confirmed about the cigars, where to find them and what we’re still waiting to learn.

Davidoff City Edition at a Glance

According to Davidoff’s press release (as reproduced by Smokin Tabacco) and reporting from Cigar Aficionado, halfwheel and Cigar Dojo, here are the specs:

  • Releases: Davidoff City Edition New York and Davidoff City Edition Las Vegas
  • Size: 5 1/2 x 55 (the release calls it a robusto; the box lid reads “gran robusto”)
  • Wrapper and binder: Ecuador (both cigars)
  • Filler: Dominican Republic
  • Factory: Cigars Davidoff, Dominican Republic
  • Packaging: boxes of 10
  • Suggested retail: $49 per cigar ($490 per box, per halfwheel)
  • On sale: November 2, 2026

Two Cities, Two Blends

On paper, the two cigars look a lot alike. As halfwheel points out, both list an Ecuadorian wrapper and binder over Dominican filler. The differences are in the details.

City Edition New York. Davidoff says the filler is made up exclusively of carefully selected Dominican tobaccos, and describes the cigar as embodying “balance, elegance and refinement.” Cigar Aficionado reports that the Ecuadorian wrapper is noticeably darker than the Las Vegas version, and that Davidoff rates the strength three and a half out of five. halfwheel lists Davidoff’s tasting notes as coffee, wood and oak.

City Edition Las Vegas. The twist here is a wine cask. Davidoff says a Dominican filler tobacco aged in a wine cask lends “a distinctive character and greater aromatic depth.” Cigar Aficionado reports a strength rating of three out of five, and halfwheel lists the tasting notes as fresh pepper and spice.

You can see the difference in Davidoff’s photos. The Las Vegas cigars wear a lighter wrapper, and the New York cigars are visibly darker. We haven’t smoked either one yet, so we can’t say how those notes play out in the cigar.

The Boxes Are Half the Story

Davidoff clearly wanted these to be keepsakes. Each box is white with a gold and black skyline across the lid. The New York box features the Statue of Liberty, and the Las Vegas box has the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.

Davidoff’s own pitch leans into that. “With the City Edition, we bring the exclusivity of Davidoff directly to our flagship stores,” said Javier González, senior vice president and head of global marketing and innovation at Oettinger Davidoff. “For the first time, we are launching a series that belongs entirely to the cities that inspire it. New York and Las Vegas each have their unique blend and box, which cannot be found anywhere else. They are perfect for travelers and collectors alike.”

If packaging is your thing, we’ve dug into how brands approach it in our visual study of five cigar brands, which includes Davidoff.

Where and When to Find Them

The cigars are sold only at Davidoff of Geneva since 1911 flagships, starting November 2:

  • New York: the three New York City flagships, on Madison Avenue, Sixth Avenue and Broadway in Brooklyn
  • Las Vegas: the flagship on South Las Vegas Boulevard

Cigar Dojo notes that Davidoff says launch dates and availability may vary by location, so if you’re making a special trip, call the store first. We also haven’t seen any word on online sales, so assume you’ll need to visit in person.

Timing is a nice coincidence for anyone heading west. Cigar Aficionado’s Big Smoke Las Vegas runs November 6 and 7 at Horseshoe Las Vegas, which means the Las Vegas edition will have been on sale for four days by then.

Part of a Bigger Flagship Push

This isn’t Davidoff’s first store-specific project this year. Back in August, Cigar Aficionado reported on the Boutique Selection, a trio of 6 x 54 cigars made exclusively for the Geneva, Hong Kong and Madison Avenue flagships, with each blend unique to its store and a debut scheduled for September 1. The New York Madison Avenue version was listed at a suggested $46, so City Edition’s $49 puts the new releases in similar territory.

Exclusives tied to a single store or region are having a moment. We covered a similar idea closer to home with Plasencia’s Florida-only Alma Fuerte Torpedo for Corona Cigar Company. If you collect hard-to-find cigars, our list of rare and exclusive cigars for collectors is a fun read.

What We Couldn’t Confirm

  • Production numbers. None of the coverage says how many boxes Davidoff is making, and halfwheel lists the release type as undisclosed. It’s described as a “limited” series, but we don’t know how limited.
  • Strength ratings. The three and three-and-a-half out of five numbers come through Cigar Aficionado, which attributes them to Davidoff. They aren’t in the press release text we found.
  • Davidoff’s own page. We couldn’t find a City Edition page on Davidoff’s website yet, so the specs above come from the press release as reproduced by Smokin Tabacco and trade coverage. We’ll update this post if Davidoff publishes more.

The Cigar Guys Take

We like this idea. A cigar you can only get by walking into a specific store gives travelers a real souvenir, and it gives people who live in those cities something that’s theirs. Different blends for different cities, instead of one cigar in two boxes, is the right call, and the wine cask filler in the Las Vegas edition is an interesting twist.

At $49 a cigar, this isn’t an everyday smoke, and we’d guess most buyers are picking up a couple for the humidor or as a gift. That’s fine with us. If you’re in New York or Las Vegas in November, it’s worth a stop to see the boxes in person. If you’ve enjoyed Davidoff’s classics, like the Oro Blanco we wrote about back in 2024, these are a new way to explore the brand.

Which would you try first, the darker New York or the wine cask Las Vegas? We’ll share our own notes once we get a few in hand.
