MBombay Releases Two Single-Run Pyramids: Kesara Pyramid 2020 and MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019

Some cigars hit shelves the week they’re rolled. MBombay’s newest pair took the scenic route. The Palm Springs boutique brand has released two limited-edition pyramids, the Kesara Pyramid 2020 and the MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019. They were rolled years ago in Costa Rica, rested until the company felt they were ready, and have now shipped to shops. According to MBombay’s press release, each is a single run, and the company doesn’t expect to make them again.
The quick hits
- What: Two limited-edition 6″ x 54 pyramids
- Kesara Pyramid 2020: 834 numbered boxes of 10, $29.95 MSRP per cigar
- MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019: 826 numbered boxes of 10, $39.95 MSRP per cigar
- Total: 16,600 cigars between the two
- Factory: Costa Rica
- Availability: Shipped and in stores now at tobacconists that carry MBombay
One roller, one lot, one run
Plenty of cigars get called “limited.” What we like about this release is that MBombay gives an actual reason for the number. According to the release, two things capped production. Only one roller at the brand’s Costa Rica factory could make the pyramid shape to MBombay’s standard, and the tobacco came from a single, finite lot. Once that lot was rolled, the run was done.
Then came the wait. The MQBA Mayura has been resting since 2019 and the Kesara since 2020. MBombay says it held both so each blend could come forward before going to market. That fits how the brand describes its process: it directs fermentation and leaf aging with its factory, then ages the finished cigars in the United States before they ship.
Founder Mel S. summed it up in the release: “We had one roller who could make this shape and one lot of tobacco to make it from. When the lot was gone, so was the run. Then we waited until the cigars were ready, not until the calendar said it was time.”
If you’ve been following the wave of long-rested cigars this season, these two fit right in with the aged-tobacco releases defining fall 2026.
Kesara Pyramid 2020
Kesara is MBombay’s lightest-shade blend, and this release puts it into a tapered pyramid. Fun bit of trivia: kesara is the Sanskrit word for saffron, as halfwheel noted when the line first came out, which makes the bright orange box feel just right.

- Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut
- Binder: Ecuador H.2000
- Filler: Dominican Republic, Peru Mejorado
- Size: 6″ x 54
- Production: 834 numbered boxes of 10
- MSRP: $29.95 per cigar
- Factory: Costa Rica
Like every MBombay blend, the Kesara sits in what the company calls a medium nicotine band. The brand says its line is built on flavor, not strength. Each cigar wears a white band with an ornate floral pattern, and each box sleeve is numbered out of 834.
MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019
The Mayura is the elder of the pair, rolled in 2019. It’s built on MBombay’s MQBA blend and dressed in an Ecuador Habano HVA wrapper in a colorado claro shade, so it’s a noticeably darker look than the Kesara.

- Wrapper: Ecuador Habano HVA
- Binder: Ecuador
- Filler: Paraguay, Peru, Nicaragua
- Size: 6″ x 54
- Production: 826 numbered boxes of 10
- MSRP: $39.95 per cigar
- Factory: Costa Rica
Mayura is Sanskrit for peacock, and the white oval band carries a gold peacock to match. Boxes are numbered out of 826.

A quick refresher on MBombay
If MBombay is new to you, it’s a boutique, ultra-premium brand based in Palm Springs, California. According to the release, Mel S. got into the cigar business in 2001 and spent 13 years as a retailer before making his own cigar, because he couldn’t find the one he wanted. After visiting factories in the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua, he chose a Costa Rica factory in 2008 and still works with it today.
The first MBombay cigars came out in 2014. halfwheel reported that the brand debuted that June, and that Kesara followed late that year as its fourth line. Today the company says it has six blends, all in the same medium nicotine band and set apart by flavor rather than strength. MBombay has popped up on our radar before, too: its Mora 2026 editions made our list of new cigars releasing in 2026.
The Cigar Guys’ take
We’re suckers for a release where the word “limited” actually means something. Here it isn’t a number picked in a marketing meeting. One roller and one lot of tobacco set the count, and then the cigars sat for six to seven years before anyone got to light one. That’s the kind of patience you can’t fake.
The fun part for us is the side-by-side. Same 6″ x 54 pyramid, two very different blends: a Connecticut-wrapped Kesara and a darker Habano-wrapped Mayura. Smoke them back to back and you get a real lesson in how much wrapper and blend change a cigar when the shape stays the same.
With only 16,600 cigars between them and no plans for a second run, we wouldn’t sit on these too long. MBombay doesn’t sell direct to consumers, so your local tobacconist is the place to ask. The brand’s retailer locator at bombaytobak.com lists the shops that carry it. Grab one of each, block off a Saturday afternoon, and let us know which pyramid wins.
