The holidays are coming early for Perdomo Legacy fans. Next month, Perdomo Cigars is introducing the Legacy Gran Collection, an 11-cigar sampler built around the Legacy line. It includes three sizes that you can only get inside the collection, at least for now.
Here’s what’s in the box, how the three blends differ, and why this release is worth a closer look.
What’s in the Legacy Gran Collection
According to Perdomo’s announcement, as reported by Cigar Coop and The Cigar Authority, each sampler holds 11 cigars in six formats:
- Short Robusto: 4¼ x 54, two cigars (new, exclusive to the collection)
- Belicoso Fino: 5 x 54, two cigars (new, exclusive to the collection)
- Robusto: 5 x 54, two cigars
- Gran Corona: 6 x 48, two cigars (new, exclusive to the collection)
- Gran Belicoso: 6 x 60, two cigars
- Father & Son Gran Figurado: 6 x 48/60/52, one cigar
Ten of the cigars use the original Perdomo Legacy blend, and the 11th is the Father & Son Gran Figurado. Every sampler uses the same lineup of sizes, so the only thing that changes from box to box is the blend.

One note for the detail-minded: when halfwheel first reported the samplers on October 20, it called them the Perdomo Legacy Collection and listed a different mix of 11 cigars, which also included the Epicure, Gordo and Churchill. The newer announcement published this week lists the six formats above. We’ve gone with the newer lineup, but the box itself will settle it once samplers reach shops.
Three Wrappers, One Lineup
The Gran Collection comes in the three Legacy wrapper options:
- Connecticut: an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper
- Maduro: a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper
- Nicaraguan Shade-Grown: uses Perdomo’s signature hybrid leaf as the wrapper
That hybrid is the heart of the Legacy line. According to halfwheel, Perdomo developed it about a decade ago by crossing a Cameroon seed with a Cuban seed and growing it on one of its farms in Estelí, Nicaragua. In the Shade-Grown blend it’s the wrapper, and in the Connecticut and Maduro versions it serves as the binder. Perdomo says the hybrid is aged for at least ten years, and the rest of the tobacco gets significant aging as well. If you like the idea of patience in a cigar, our look at this fall’s aged-tobacco releases is a good companion read.
The Story Behind the New Sizes
Nicholas Perdomo III created the Legacy project for the 60th birthday of his father, Nicholas Perdomo Jr. According to halfwheel and Cigar Coop, Perdomo III shared on social media that the three new sizes were part of the original plan. He’d worked them up in all three wrappers when he first blended Legacy. In typical Perdomo fashion, though, the line launched with just five vitolas, and the extras waited for the right moment.
The Father & Son came first. Perdomo added it to the Legacy family earlier this year in the same three wrappers, and every Gran Collection sampler includes one. If you love a shape that changes as it burns, a 6 x 48/60/52 figurado delivers that, and our guide to figurados explains why ring gauge changes the experience.
When It’s Coming
Nicholas Perdomo III told halfwheel the company plans to ship the samplers in early November, ahead of the holiday season. The Cigar Authority reports they’ll go to authorized Perdomo retailers in November 2026. No exact street date has been announced, so availability will likely vary from shop to shop.
The Cigar Guys Take
We love a sampler built like this one. Same sizes, three wrappers, side by side. It’s one of the best ways to learn what a wrapper actually does to a blend. Set a Connecticut Short Robusto next to a Maduro Short Robusto and you’ll find out quickly what your palate prefers.
The new sizes are interesting too. A 4¼ x 54 Short Robusto fills a gap for shorter sessions, and a 6 x 48 Gran Corona gives the Legacy blend a slimmer format than the rest of the lineup. We’re curious how the hybrid leaf behaves in a narrower ring gauge.
Perdomo has a long track record with well-aged tobacco. We’ve covered the Perdomo Vintage Aged 12 Years before, so a Legacy collection built on long-aged tobacco fits right in. And if you’re already thinking about holiday cigar traditions, our holiday cigars guide has more ideas for the season.
We haven’t smoked the new sizes yet. Once we do, we’ll talk about them on the podcast.
